The crimson red of the sunset began to fall over the nearby trees. It was unusually warm for this time of year, and the snow from previous weeks was already melted and soaked into the ground. As Bishop walked towards the woods with his backpack around one shoulder, he remembered growing up next to the forest at his grandmother's house. The smell of fresh pine needles used to comfort him, but after the accident all it did was bring him back to his brother's death. Up until, recently he avoided the woods at all cost. He would act sick when they played capture the flag, or went on hiking trips , but now it gave him a place to think, and being the son of the goddess of vengeance, he needed quiet time, or else things probably wouldn't end up so well.
As Bishop walked deeper into the woods, he found himself listening. He heard the crackling of debris under his feet and the sounds of the nocturnal world begin to come alive. He hated it. He could not stand the sound of nature It was strange considering he spent the first half of his life running through a forest almost identicle to this one, but the noises just infuriated him, crickets chirping, owls hooting. The whole thing just gave him a headache, so he paused, pulled out the iPod sticking out of the side pocket of his bag, and began to list. After about five more minutes of walking he threw his bag down. This will do, he said in a dull whisper. He checked the ground, sat down, and turned up the music as loud as it would go before closing his eyes. Shutting out the world was easy since he had already shut out everyone in it. It was physically getting away from the mass of Demigods that was a challenge.

All Kade wanted was to be alone, and draw. Since he's been at camp, he has not had time with people yelling, running, and other annoying things. So, before he went to breakfast, he placed his art materials in his backpack. Ready to go straight after breakfast, many people thought he was leaving for a quest. If only he thought to himself. As he downed breakfast, he quickly left. But there was only one thing, he didn't know where to go.
He arrived at the edge of the woods, well, it would be free of other Demi-gods. Just killing monsters and who knows what else in there, perfect. He wound his way through the thick trees, and stumbled into a clearing. He set his backpack down, right before he settled down, he heard a muffled sound flow through the air. Music? Was that music he heard? Being impulsive, he followed the noise, taking cover from the few random bigger sized trees. When he located the sound, he saw that it was coming from another boy. Well, his ipod.

Are you joking me? Bishop said loud enough for whoever had just invaded his space to hear. He could feel the person's presence. He used to play hide-and-go- seek a lot, so if there was anyone near, he usually knew. You have got to be kidding me! He repeated even louder and with a harsher tone. He hadn't been sitting for longer than ten minutes when he felt the crack of a twig about twelve feet away. Yanking out one of the earbuds so hard it was at risk of ripping the chord, Bishop stood up and looked around for the perpetrator. Finally catching sight of the shaggy, blond hair of Kade Warren.
Bishop didn't hate Kade. He really didn't. They hadn't really spoken, but he respected him for not being either an overly-confident jackasses like the Zeus and Ares kids, or one of the conceited bitches that was usually reserved for Aphrodite's spawn. He took a deep breath.
Bishop didn't have many friend, and he liked it like that way. It meant that less people attempted to talk to him, but Kade had something about him. He was just...different from everyone else, so Bishop decided to not destroy him. At least, not tonight. What are you doing out here? It's getting dark. Shouldn't you be getting ready to night night with all your little child of Athena siblings? A sly smirk spread across his face. Just because Kade interested him did not mean he would receive a pass on interrupting Bishop's thinking time.

Brains and fighting was what Kade was good at, demi-god wise. He was never a good person to sneak, even as a child he was always the loser in Hide-and-seek. So, he was not surprised to find out Bishop knew exactly where he was. You could hear the anger in his voice, well, too bad for him. Kade was not thinking that Bishop could have attacked him, no. He thought about how the lighting was perfect for a sketch of this boy, his expression, just everything. Snapping back into focus, he stepped out from behind the trees, no need to stay there now, was there?
Walking out from the trees, he leaned against one, and smirked. He didn't plan this, who would have thought someone would be in the forest at night. Insane.."Shouldn't you, or were you looking for your blanket? It wasn't his best line, Kade was just not good at being sarcastic.

Really? You're hilarious Kade. His tone obviously proved that he thought other wise. Bishop had no time for this sophomoric nonsense. No matter how much Kade intrigued him, Bishop did not take insults well. That has always been one of his major faults. He had always just assumed that he could get away with tearing people down without any repercussions, so when any verbal abuse, no matter how lame, got thrown at him his fuse went off. Luckily, Bishop was not in the mood to argue tonight. He turned around, shrugged on his backpack then went back to Kade. You're not funny. Don't try to be. He put on his most genuinely insincere smile patted Kade on the cheek and turned around to continue his search for solitude. He really didn't want to leave, but he felt like to defend his honor and reputation it was a must. After all, he couldn't let it get out that he had just let someone get away with a stupid comeback like that.

Well, somebody couldn't take the heat. Kade knew he wasn't funny, he never tried to be. He was simply trying to lighten the mood, and obviously, he failed. Horrible. Great, I am making him leave, exactly what I don't want to do. He watched as Bishop gathered his back pack and approached Kade, he didn't know what was going to happen, but he knew it couldn't be good. As Bishop patted Kade's cheek, he felt odd, which shocked him.
Kade was never a popular child growing up, he couldn't keep a conversation going for more than a few minutes before they figured he was weird, and left him. Which caused him many lonely days growing up. But things changed, he was no longer the super shy freak. He was more out going, kind of.
Watching Bishop pat his cheek and begin to walk away. Kade placed him arm on Bishops shoulder. "Please, don't go. I was only kidding around. I'm sorry."

Bishop was not used to physical contact. It's not that he didn't like being touched. His overall distance from the world seemed to correspond with the majority of the population. Even the few friends he did weren't ever physical. In fact, now that Bishop thought about it. The last touch that wasn't from a sword, arrow or another Demigod's fist was most likely that of his grandmother before she sent him to dear ol' Half-Blood. Which wasn't a particularly comforting embrace in the first place, so when he felt Kade's arm on his shoulder it seeped to send a spark through his body which seemed to take the breath right out of his body. With a gasp, he shook his head and hoped that Kade didn't notice his unconscious slip. What are you doing out here so late anyways. Bishop figured that he really needed to change the subject if he wanted to get past the awkward moment that had just occurred. He removed Kade's arm and studied him momentarily with a stern look on his face.

Kade stood there, not knowing if Bishop would shrug off his arm and continue going, or stay there. Either way he would be un prepared. A part in his mind was telling him to let him leave, Kade should just go draw, relax and draw. When Bishop removed Kade's hand, Kade just stood there for a moment. Did he feel something odd when he touched Bishop? Or was it his mind playing tricks on him. The second one, it had to be.
Looking at Bishop, he noticed his eyes hovered over him. "I needed to get away from the crowd. I was actually going to draw, until I came here.

That was a close one. Bishop thought to himself. He couldn't get that close to vulnerability again. It was dangerous. Especially for him. Hearing about Kade's want for isolation both confused and intrigued Bishop even more than he had been previously. Kade never seemed abnormally unsocial. Not that he was the most popular guy in camp, but he was friendly enough, and decently attractive in that awkward art guy thing. Bishop looked into Kade's eyes skeptically really not believing that reason, but Bishop wasn't inquisitive or nosy, so he let it go. Bishop's eyes caught on a notebook down in Kade's hand. Oh, what have we go here? Bishop snatched Kade's notebook with lightening reflex and began to study the cover. An Artist? Or maybe a writer? Bishop had developed a very nice evil smirk over the years which was currently proudly displayed on his face as he prepared to open the notebook.

When Bishop stayed, a sense of relief surged through him. Feeling relieved that Bishop was staying felt odd, why was he wanting Bishop to stay? Bishop was one of the meanest kids at camp, everyone knew that. Even his close friend, Aria. Who was even worse then him. Kade made it a plan to avoid Aria, it was never pretty when someone talked to her. Being lost in thought was what made him slow to react when Bishop sprung for his notebook. The notebook, he completely forgot he was even holding it. It erased his mind when he arrived in the clearing. His notebook held every drawing he ever drew, even ones from when he was little. It held many people from this camp, and yes, even Bishop was in there. Hopefully he would flick through the pages and figure it was some random guy. "No, please. Give it back." He said hopefully. Nobody had ever looked into that notebook, it was something he held very dear to him, and he didn't want others to know.

Kade's Resistance to allow him to view the notebook caused Bishop's curiosity to catch fire. It was now a human need for him to view the contents. Don't worry I won't make fun of you ... too much. Bishop stated with a wily smirk. He quickly turned his back to Kade and opened the book to a random page. After taking a double take at the page Bishop realized what it was. There, staring back at him was a picture of himself. A portrait that was so unmistakably him that he almost looked for the reflective surface of a mirror. It was beautifully drawn, that was out of the question, but it also showed something else. Something that Bishop could not put his hand on, but knew that when ever he found out what it was, his feelings to this boy would change dramatically.
Is this.... me? Bishop asked one decibel above a whisper. He wasn't quite sure how to react yet. He already knew the answer to the question, but why had Kade drawn him? That was what Bishop really yearned to know. There were plenty of people who would actually pose for a portrait. Why not use one of them. Bishop didn't think he was overly spectacular. (Even if his snideness was mistaken for cockiness.) They lived in a camp of demigods, it wasn't that difficult to find someone who wanted to be drawn.

No, no, no. He can't see the drawing! his thoughts echoed through his mind. It was obvious that Bishop could not see his picture. So, why did his mind have to state the obvious? "No, really. Don't look at it! fear rose in his voice, he knew he should have contained himself. Bishop turned his back to Kade, as he advanced on to him. He tried to reach his arm over Bishops shoulder, anything to get his notebook back, or obstruct his view. Well, this might look weird, Kade pressing himself up against Bishop, but honestly, it wasn't suppose to look like that. When Bishop turned around, Kade took a step back. Too late now, awesome..
Looking down, he heard Bishop ask if that picture was him, well, obviously it was. Who else looked like him? Well, he didn't look like that, but to Kade he did. "Y- . . .yes, it is." There was no point in arguing now, the cat was out of the notebook. It was dumb now, he knew it was. He shouldn't have went into the woods. He shouldn't carry his notebook with him everywhere he goes. He can't undo what's done now.

This was a first. Bishop couldn't say anything. He had thousands of questions going through his head, but they couldn't seem to make it to his vocal chords. Words just would not come out. All Bishop could do for what seemed like 5 hours, (but was really only like 10 seconds,) was stare at Kade. Finally, he got something. Uhh, cool... That's it! That's all you can think of? "Cool?" You are one of the smartest people at this camp and you can barely get a two word fragment. Hell, "Uhh, " isn't even a word. Bishop's was mentally slapping himself in the face, but what is there really to say when you find that you're having beautiful, candid pictures drawn of you. Umm, is there a reason? There, we go Bishop. Nice big boy words.

Great, now he's going to hold this over my head. Totally not what I wanted to happen. He continued to not meet Bishops eyes, it would just be to weird, he just found a drawing of himself, avoiding eye contact would be the best. "Uh, no. No reason at all." Kade tried to speak calmly, but he knew he didn't sound so calm. Lifting his head up, he met Bishops eyes for the first time. He wasn't sure what he saw, but he hoped it was good. "Can I get my notebook back, please?" He asked, he wasn't sure if there were anymore drawings of Bishop or not, he just had so many drawing in there.

Looking down at his feet Bishop realized that this was one situation he would not get out of cleanly. He would either have to stick it out, or run, and he had been running his whole life, so that was what seemed easiest. This had ended up being one of those things that became so awkward that even Bishop couldn't think of a snide enough remark to make it okay. It's getting Dark, I need to leave. This was total BS. Bishop had stayed in these woods till one or two in the morning for the past few weeks. This time he couldn't let Kade stop him, so he picked up his bag as quickly as possible, and almost sprinted out of the clearing. But, something held him back. Kade had seemed to have changed the way Bishop saw him without really needing to say anything. It was if he had temporarily softened Bishop enough to feel his heart telling him not to leave this boy in the woods. For the first time in what seemed like years, Bishop's heart talked instead of his head. Bishop turned around, attempting to look cool, right before he reached the last tree at the edge of the clearing. Come on, it will be better if we walk together.
