mint
It was roughly five o'clock when Mint stumbled into the Ares cabin, Dream walking with her briskly in an attempt to match her lopsided pace. Mint had essentially challenge Dream, daughter of Athena, on the beach. Two missteps led to her injury, the first being the block of a blow with her arm and the second not taking initiative to strike back immediately. This second point led to her taking a powerful thwack on the right side of her body. Mint threw herself onto her bed and gently-- ever so gently-- touched the area of her body that felt like it was in flame. She could not help but wince; Dream had somehow managed to hurt her. She, who was the daughter of Ares. She, who’d thought she could win a simple skirmish with a girl who only strategy and plan in her blood.
Now, not only by the pain but the sour unevenness of her ribcage she could tell something had cracked. There wasn’t a lot one could do to fix ribs on their own and she didn’t want to risk having to be bandaged up; special treatment was something she wanted to avoid. The second bruise was spreading across her arm in a violet tone. She winced and put on a jacket to cover it. Mint considered herself lucky that the cabin was empty at this time of day. There was almost always someone lurking around the area who wasn’t training, or forging, or swimming. Fortunately for her, quite possibly the only bit of luck she’d had all day, Dream had left promptly with no sign of return. Maybe her guilt would lock her jaw, or cause her to talk even more extensively.
She flattened her back against her own mattress, trying to block out her newly found… friend? There was no telling what that encounter could lead to in a “friendship”.

Love me, hate me. Either way you're thinking about me!
After what some might say, a boring day, Shawn decided to leave the beach and head back to cabin. In the past three weeks , since he arrived Shawn didn't had much to do. No lessons to attend either because he didn't wanted or because he was to late in the term. No training , at least not with a teacher though he expected that soon he will have to attend to specialized training just like the rest of the camp members. Until four o'clock Shawn spend his time at the beach swimming, alone , which wasn't something he was used to. With his skin almost as red as blood and an itchy skin at the mere touch of the wind Shawn decided it was time to head back to camp.
The road took him like an hour or so but he finally got there. His t-shirt held in the strong grip of his left hand while right hand was busy carrying his sandals. Every step he was taking was painful and could swear he would be stuck with the frowned look forever. "damn swimming"he cursed in his mind while finally entering his cabin designated cabin. Well it wasn't only his , it was for all the kids with Ares as their father. That news he found out by himself when reading about him and the how to recognize a child of his.
Football was a contact sport but not that rough to make you bleed as result of injuries. That was on the field and not always. Outside the field , well, fighting was required if you wanted to keep yourself alive and watch the game from thirty meters away. For a eighteen years old kid , Shawn had many fights on his account and most of them started by him. You might call him a violent kid but he just have a wild temper which brought him a bad reputation for a while.

In the distance, Mint could hear footfalls on the ground. Her eyes had begun to glaze over as she pondered her recent course of events, but the sound recaptured her attention. Briskly she dusted away splinter of wood and propped her body up in a sitting position on her bed. The Ares cabin was fairly roomy, girl’s bunks on the on one side any guys on the other. Several showers were separated by doors at the far end of the building, divided a second time into girls’ and boys’. Another non-bed area was in place; a weapons area. Blades and bows alike were mounted on the wall with plaques, varying varnishes, showing the names of the demigods in which they’d belonged to. Every now and then she’d look over these; not all the weapons were bright and sleek, some were nicked steel and splitting wood.
Her pockets had grown somewhat heavier over the time she’d been at camp and she was growing closer to being able to afford a weapon, possibly something enchanted. Few half-bloods carried such weapons, and those did cut down foe after foe. There was nothing Mint would like better than to enchant a blade with wind and fight with the speed and ferocity of an icy winter breeze. Fire also appealed to her, the heat of the weapon itself could be intimidating.
The footsteps grew closer and Mint walked stiffly to the entrance at the head of the cabin. She recognized the person, Shawn, although he looked to have quite a sunburn. Most of the Ares kids she knew by name which was no indication that she liked them. She had a decent respect for Shawn as he was a decent swordsman.

The dorms were displayed by the god they originate from which meant there were lots of big cabins and inside dormitories divided in girls and boy each on one side of the cabin. The view of Shawn's cabin was somewhat like in the fifteen century. Weapons of great variety placed on a wall near entrance , each tagged with the name of their owner. Among those , Shawn had non since he didn't had knowledge of that possibility nor gold to buy. In the world of warriors , one without sword was like a wizard without a wand. An important piece of himself was missing.
Taking a look around, Shawn's ocean blue eyes fall upon a girl he saw for quite some time, obviously since they had few duels not to mention they live together as Ares's kids. A display of shock and somewhat disappointment mixed with curiosity craved on Shawn's face as he saw the bruises on the girls body and without notice , his feet walked in her direction. While walking Shawn thought it would be weird to turn around without a word or anything and seeing himself before her , words slipped his lips "who kick your but like that?".
The questions itself , for Shawn seemed funny to hear yet in the same time a reasonable and rather legitimate one to ask. As far as he knew , Ares's kids are known for physical strength and hand to hand combat skills. Maybe Shawn wasn't the perfect example but he intends to become one as soon as possible. Few moments latter, once his mind stopped thinking , the pain from the sunburn pierced his senses again , this time harder due to recent movement he made. Frowning at his own careless , Shawn cursed "damn sun" before taking a sit next to Mint. That name was one to make fun off and Shawn wouldn't let a chance of mood boost slip his finger but this time he hold his tongue on that regard.

"Who kick your but like that?" Shawn asked. Mint felt her momentary confidence melt and the fact she’d been bested by DREAM of all people dropped into her mind sourly. She opened her mouth to reply, but then shut it hastily. No accident or amount of clumsiness caused this kind of bruising, especially not on a coordinated kid like her. Shawn sat by her, appearing to be in considerable discomfort from his sunburn, notably not a mark that another person causes someone. She wondered momentarily how pitiful being bested by an Athena kid was even though her opponent hadn’t had any time to compose a battle strategy.
“Some Athena kid,” she retorted. “She probably had some training or something… perhaps I got careless.” Mint added as a false afterthought. “I’d almost say an Apollo or Hephaestus fried you, but that’s far too even of a mark.” She smirked, clearly not the only person who’d slipped up. She cracked knuckles habitually and relaxed against the couch, twinges from her side beginning to fade into numbness. One thing she was ultimately grateful for: the space of the cabin. It was open and one could feel at easy in the homeliness of it.
Mint took a closer look at Shawn’s heavily reddened face; she couldn’t help but be sympathetic. There was an unusual contrast between his pale features and the scarlet tone.
