Around noontime, after eating lunch, Damian approached the arena. It seemed to be a good day to do some training—it always was—and now he felt like doing a bit of sword work. With a quick glance around, he noticed that it was fairly empty, so he decided that one of the dummies would be the best, unless somebody came ‘round and challenged him to a practice duel or something like that. Damian picked up an average sword and tossed it between each hand, back and forth, feeling it slightly. It would do, he supposed, though it wasn’t the cream of the cream—or even the cream of the crop. He would settle for the crop of the crop, so long as it wasn’t diseased or rotten. Of course, what crop could be rotten here with Demeter’s kids around? Damian blinked and wondered how his thoughts could go so far astray from the task at hand.
Shaking his head slowly, as if that would clear the spontaneous monologues, Damian strode up to one of the dummies. He got into the proper position with his knees bent slightly and everything, and then he began to hack and slash at it, to feign strikes, to fight as though he were only going to knock it out. It grew boring swiftly, and Damian knew that this was no good replacement for a human battle. Dummies don’t have minds. They just sit there and get destroyed. Humans have minds, minds which can be studied and can react as a person or monster would in an actual fight. It takes wits to take down a human, but nothing for a stuffed model of one. Even so, he continued to practice, though he doubted his skills or physique were improving at all. [/blockquote]

Venus walked slowly into the arena. She glanced around and notice a half-blood stabbing at a dummy with all his power. Venus walked forward so that she was a few feet behind him before she spoke. "Hello?" Venus called out unsurely. Usually she was the more outgoing then her twin Pandora but today she was jumpy.

Damian halted and returned his sword arm to his side when he heard a girl call out. She sounded anxious, he noticed as he turned to face her. The son of Athena tilted his head curiously and examined the girl. Had he seen her before? For all his time at Camp Half-Blood, he hardly seemed to know anybody! He panted slightly and flashed her a tiny smile, somewhat encouraging. Raising his left hand, he waved it faintly in greeting. Taking a deep breath, he wiped some sweat from his brow. It wasn't much, but he had been there for a while. Not very long, but he guess he sweated. She didn't look as though she wanted to do any type of practicing. Well, maybe she did. Damian wasn't able to read minds. "Hello," he replied calmly. He did think it was slightly odd that somebody would interrupt a person practicing with a weapon, but he didn't mind so much. The dummy was boring.

The boy gave her a small smile and Venus smiled back. She took a few steps closer so that she was standing right in front of him. "Im Venus, daughter of Janus" She said, introducing herself. "And you are?" She studied the boy, he was rather handsome. Venus found herself blushing at the thought. She quickly looked at her feet so that he wouldnt notice.

Venus. An interesting name for a child of the Greeks. If he recalled properly, Venus was the name for the Roman form of Aphrodite. Venus, daughter of Janus. They rhymed. It was a silly thought, frivolous. Damian noticed her smile and replied with a movement that couldn't be mistaken for anything but a grin. It wasn't huge, but it was certainly there. "Damian," he answered her. "Son of Athena." She suddenly looked down at her feet, and Damian cocked a brow briefly. With a soft chuckle, he shook his head and grinned. "Want to spar?" he asked abruptly, gesturing to the weapon rack nearby. It would be fun and interesting, sparring against a newcomer. Damian didn't have much contact with many of the lesser gods, and he actually wanted to give one a test run in a battle. He just wanted to know what they were capable of. And sparring was always fun.

Grinning, Venus looked back up. "Im horrible at fighting but i guess ill try" She made her way over to the weapons rack and grabbed a long silver sword. She picked it up and made a few practice jabs before putting it back, it was to heavy. She grabbed a bronze sword and tried it out. It worked fine so she walked back to Damian and went into her fighting stance.

Damian shrugged when she said she was terrible. They'd find out soon enough just how bad she might be. He stepped away from the dummy to a more open space and watched her try out weapons. He'd been lucky and had gotten an okay one the first time around. Maybe that was because he was a son of Athena and was just naturally good with weapons, maybe he had just been lucky. When she returned, he fell naturally into the fighting position-- knees slightly bent and arms loose. He never liked making the first move, and so he waited and watched, taking in her position and height and the length of her sword and the ground she was standing on and everything. He made a tiny motion with his fingers on his left hand, gesturing that he was probably not going to make the first move. He had warmed up already, but might've been a bit tired, too. More tired than she, probably, though he was completely ready to go.

Venus studied his postition. Just because she wasnt good at fighting didnt mean she didnt try. She tried to figure out how to attack him. Making the first move was always risky but she could tell he wasnt going to. She let out a sigh and then ran at him swinging her sword so that it struck his with a loud clank. She knew better then to go straight for his open areas, he would have expected that.

Damian waited for her to strike, and she didn't disappoint. All she did was aim for his weapon, oddly. He met her attack so that there was a loud clanging sound. Interesting tactic. She didn't aim for anything that really would have any effect. It was just a distraction, except she didn't do anything afterward. It wasn't even a feign. He decided perhaps he should make the next blow, but he just wanted to test her out. Flicking his wrist to swing the sword around as a fancy flourish once, for no real reason, Damian considered swiftly what to do. Finally, he decided to step forward to make a simple sideways slash toward her chest so that he wouldn't be revealing a major vulnerable spot and that he wasn't lunging a massive distance. It was sloppy and easy to block, he hoped.

Venus was ready when he swung at her and she easily blocked it. She found herself beginning to sweat, she tended to be horrible at sword fighting. She gripped her sword tightly in her hand and swong for a blow towards his side. Not really the best move but she was prepared for a counterattack.

She blocked. That was good; she knew how to parry. She wasn't as bad as she said. Damian judged a truly terrible fighter as one who didn't know how to see a sword coming and be able to stop it. That was just about everyone, though, so it seemed as though only the absolute worst of the worst were like that. She wasn't that way, though she never said she was the worst fighter. And besides, everyone can be trained. She swung at his side, and he stepped away and positioned his blade between hers and his flesh. He shoved against the weapon, trying to push it away. If he did that, he'd use his force to swing around toward her arm. He definitely hoped she'd block. That was all he was hoping for, a nice, clean sparring match. Well, for now, nothing tough.

ooc//hot enough pictures?? xD
Venus was ready for his next attack and easily blocked it. Okay, she had kind of lied when she said she was horrible. Before she had known she was a half-blood she had gone to a summer camp every summer where they taught sword fighting.
She quickly swung aiming for his chest. She hoped she surprised him. She could tell he was a good fighter. She hoped he could figure out that she lied about being bad at fighting.

Damian was pleased that she was able to block and move with the finesse she did, especially after her claim to be incapable. Then she struck at his chest, and he didn't move away quite fast enough. It sliced cleanly through his shirt, and he glanced down and grinned. His mother was a goddess of judges. She was the neutral, fair party -- usually -- with the Olympians. He could tell that it was a blatant lie about her lack of fighting skills. With a single breath of a chuckle, he tossed his hair from his eyes.
She certainly wasn't bad. However, she didn't draw blood or even scratch his skin, he didn't think. He didn't feel anything, anyway. At that point, he decided maybe he'd want to go on the offensive. His step back to avoid her blow, which wasn't entirely successful, was countered by his own feet when he hopped forward again and began to launch a flurry of swift, slight blows at her, not stopping whether or not he hit for a short period of time. It was somewhat energy consuming, but since they weren't really strong attacks, they wouldn't do much but drain both their energy. He hoped more hers than his.

(No they are definitely hott)
Venus smiled when se cut his t-shirt. "Why are you even wearing a t-shirt, I bet you look much better without it" Venus wasnt the greatest at flirting but she couldnt help it.
She wasnt prepared for his next blos and the first few struck leavin a few marks on her shirt, not to noticeable. Venus let one more hit her before she started blocking back. She had already decided that she wasnt going to lose this battle.

Damian raised an eyebrow when Venus made a comment. Was that... flirting? It caught him by surprise, since it wasn't something he was used to recognizing. Before he could react, though, she started responding to his attacks with blocks. Now that he thought about it, had anyone else flirted with him? He really didn't pay attention to that sort of thing. Perhaps there were other girls. Geez, he probably seemed like a stiff jerk.
Deciding that once she started blocking and catching on to what he was doing, he switched it up a bit. He feigned an attack to her left and swiftly moved over to her right in the hopes that she would either notice and try to block him on the left and get batted by the flat side of his sword on her side or realize what he was doing and show what skill she had. In a real battle, of course he would be much more... severe with his attacks and tactics, but he wanted to test out the waters, so to speak. This sort of spar was the most interesting and educational, in Damian's opinion, even if it wasn't the best workout.
