Kardin clutched her ipod tightly in her hand. She was so relieved that, unlike other camps, she was allowed to carry electronics with her. Of course, cell phones weren't allowed. She could simply contact Iris with a drachma. But the most electronic thing that Kardin had retrieved before being dragged from a track meet to this odd camp was her ipod and a charger. She was apt to using a friend's laptop for snatching music to add. Where would she be without the old, dinged up metallic mp3 player? She didn't know. There was one playlist she had left mostly untouched since she had left for camp. The title was I'm Sorry, and she had added songs that her old boyfriend had liked. She hadn't dared herself to listen to it since camp had began.
Kardin was particularly late for lunch. She had been busy downloading new songs onto her iPod. The Hephaestus table was entirely empty as she sat down on a lonely bench there. Kardin liked talking, and she assumed this was going to be a rather solemn lunch, with few dotting the large mess hall. But nevermind that, Kardin had her iPod in her ears. She considered getting up, skipping lunch. Besides, what was lunch without a chat? But her iPod kept her grounded. Without a meal in front of her, she was sure she would puzzle people. Perhaps they would assume she had already finished. But Kardin lost the ears as she slowly cranked the volume of her MP3 player.

Elijah was in the Aphrodite cabin. He was in his room blasting music that he could practically feel the walls vibrate and that's exactly what he wanted. He hated to admit it, but his heart was hurting. He replayed the kiss with Ace over and over in his mind asking himself why he had to run away. But now, he was blocking all that out with music. His fellow siblings were probably ready to shoot him for playing music so loud by now, but he didn't really care. He was ready to move on! At least that's what he kept saying.
Eli walked out of his room realizing that everyone had left. He checked his watch and noticed it was time for lunch which he really wasn't all that hungry for anyway. But of course, he walked over there anyway. He looked at what usually was the Aphrodite table. The table was almost always empty for Aphrodite's children were usually off flirting or making out with people. Eli turned and tried to find somewhere decent to sit. His eyes found a bench with a beautiful women sitting on it, listening to her iPod. He had never seen the girl and figured it would be safe to say hi. Eli walked up and smiled softly . "Uh, this seat being saved for anyone?" The usual smooth talker didn't try to charm his way into kissing this girl for he had no intentions at least not yet.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Kardin cranked the volume further, washing back into the sounds of her earphones. The footsteps were unheard under a layer of guitar solo, and when she turned to see a boy above her, she was caught of guard. She wasn't fast enough to unlock her ipod and turn down the volume, so she was left to reading his lips. "Wha- Oh!" Kardin smiled at herself, finally taking the chance to turn down her iPod and inspect the boy more carefully.
"Sure," she said, realizing the boy was handsome enough. She smiled, scooching over a bit to indicate he could sit where he pleased.

Eli smiled as the girl fumbled with her iPod probably trying to turn the music down. He was ready to repeat himself when she moved over to let him sit. Eli nodded, taking a seat next to the girl. He sat there in a couple of moments of silence before he got way too uncomfortable. "So, what are you listening to?" Elijah had a pretty wide taste for music and though it might have sounded weird to others, he judged a person's personality based on their music taste. He wondered what kind of girl this person would be. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Kardin scrolled down the volume of her iPod, feeling anxious that she wasn't fully engaged in conversation with the so-far nameless boy. She smiled apologetically at the silence, admitting a sorry for her loss of words. When her music was on, Kardin felt as though there wasn't as much need for dialogue, or spoken chat at all. But she as pleased that someone took interest in her music taste. To be honest, it was a little far in range. "Worry about you. 2AM Club?" she stated as something of a question, inquiring as to whether he had heard it or not. She wondered if the band had hit it big in other parts of the country, as it had in Massachusetts, depending on where this boy was from, anyways. She scrolled back to the menu, which included varying types of songs. She held it up at an angle she hoped he would see. She realized he probably hadn't been asking about her entire taste in music, but she would save him the trouble of asking, hopefully.
Worry About You - 2AM Club [x] What's Wrong With Them - Lil Wayne [x] I Never Told You - Colbie Caillat [x] Kids - MGMT [x] The Only Exception - Paramore [x] Back to December - Taylor Swift [x] You're Not Sorry - Taylor Swift [x] That's What You Get - Paramore [x]
Kardin bluntly softened her smile, taking one earbud from behind her wavy locks. "Wanna listen?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.

Eli's ears perked at the sound of "Worry About You" by 2AM. To be honest, Eli was not really in the mood to have a conversation, but the girl had his interest with her music taste. "Really? I didn't know anyone even listened to them. It's good to know that someone else thinks they're good." Elijah smiled at the girl. His eyes glanced down at her iPod. He wasn't sure if he wanted her to see her music selection. Eli was always trying to hide his music from others. Maybe because he judged people based on their music taste and he didn't want people doing that to him. Maybe it was because he felt that letting someone in on his music was letting them in to his life. Either way, Eli was surprised that the girl offered to share her music with him. He smiled and took the ear bud from her. "I never say no to music." Eli sat there for a few minutes mouthing the words to the song when he realized he didn't even know this girls name. "Oh, uh, hey! I'm Elijah Emmerson by the way." Eli had the tendancy to introduce himself as "son of Aphrodite," but didn't feel like it was needed this time.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

pretty painted face I U S E D TO W R I T E WITH T E A R S ON Y O U R-- Kardin swayed omfortably to the beat. She was an exceptional dancer for the reason she had a keen ear for music and beats. She was also rather pleased that she had found someone who not only recognized, but enjoyed her music taste. She creased her lips, momentarily concealing a blunt smile of approval before it shone through her teeth. The daughter of Hephaestus nodded at his introduction, content that he had taken the opportunity. She swore he had heard his name before, perhaps from a mutter of a new friend. Gossip, perhaps. It hadn't been very pleasant, but Kardin wasn't about to judge. "Kardin Kilpatrick," she said quietly, still smiling under her words. She was about to ask what cabin he was in, but she knew that often some people got uncomfortable with the matter, especially if they weren't fond of their descent. She had first assumed he was a son of Aphrodite, due to his looks, but she was thrown off by the fact that he hadn't tried to plant a kiss, or even made a flirty remark. It made her content to think that an Aphrodite kid was abstaining from flirting, but she also knew that he could perhaps be from another cabin entirely.

Eli could feel the girls body swaying back and forth slightly. Maybe she was trying to avoid bumping in to him, or maybe she didn't want other people to think she was crazy for dancing in her seat, but Eli didn't mind. If anything, he thought it was cute, but he wasn't there to hit on her so he kept his mouth shut and let her dance. "Kardin? Hm, that's a different name...but I like it!" Eli chuckled. Wow, was he being awkward, definitely not like his usual self. He wondered what cabin she was in, but she didn't ask him so maybe she didn't want him to ask her. Hm, but now he was dying to know. "So, uh, what cabin are you in?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

pretty painted face I U S E D TO W R I T E WITH T E A R S ON Y O U R-- Kardin heard the song begin to come to a steady climax, and she started to tap her foot. She hoped the boy didn't mind. As cliche as it sounded, the music honestly could control the girl at the oddest moments. "Kardin? Hm, that's a different name...but I like it!" The girl had never considered the name remarkable. Sure it was different, and she'd never happened upon another Kardin, but it was hers and she never thought anything of it. She chuckled for a moment. "Thankyou," she said, still under a sheet of quiet giggles. She flipped over her head, just to pull up her catastrophic blonde hair into a high pony tail. "So, uh, what cabin are you in?" she heard the boy ask. She creased her lip. "Hephaestus, but to hell if I know why." Kardin wasn't incredibly amazing in the forge. Sure, she made things neat and pretty, but her creativity levels were at an all time low. "What about you?" she asked.
