suddenly, eli started trembling. For a moment, Max was afraid he would kill her with whatever sort of power he possessed. Maybe he had a knife in his back pocket. But then he surged away to the nearest tree. Max watched as he threw his fist at it. She could hear his knuckles crack from where she was at. He looked back at Max and she noticed his knuckles were bleeding.
"you know what? Screw you Max! Gah! You try living in the shittiest trailer park imaginable. Imagine living with a father who hates your guts and loves your half brother so much more. Imagine not having enough money to pay for food to go into your mouth. Think about being.." Elijah paused. "Being lent to your dad's 'friends' for money. Old guys doing whatever they want to you because you have a pretty face and a nice body. Yeah, Max. You had it bad."
max tried to absorb all this with difficulty. The flirtatious son of Aphrodite had a horrible history like this? Hers was nothing comparatively. She felt a flicker of pity for him. And for once, she voiced it. "I'm sorry."

With her words of apology, Eli calmed down considerably. He took deep breaths to lower his heart rate that he had worked up. He cleared his throat and looked back at her emotionless. "Don't be sorry. You weren't the one who wronged me."
Eli suddenly felt tired. He found a long that seemed sturdy enough to be a bench. He sat down and examined his hand. Yeah, ow. But no was was he going to complain in front of Max. Sure, he didn't want to punch her in the face now, but he definitely didn't want to appear weak in front of her. Especially not after what he had said.

after she spoke, elijah calmed down. He took deep breaths, then cleared his throat. His eyes were emotionless when he looked up at her. "Don't be sorry. You weren't the one who wronged me."
suddenly, the boy looked tired. he went over to a log and sat down on it, gingerly holding his bleeding hand. Not really knowing what to do, Max picked up some snow and walked over to him. Too bad she couldn't heal with water, or something. For now, she'd have to settle with the old-fashioned way.
"ice?" she offered, smiling crookedly.

Eli couldn't help but smile. Partially because he found it funny that the two were ready to beat each other just second ago and now they were acting..nice to each other. Boy was that a thought. He also found it funny that daughter of Poseidon, wielder of water, brought him ice for his cut. He didn't want to say it out loud but he expected a little bit more. Surprisingly though, he wasn't disappointed. The whole act almost made her seem normal.
"Thanks."
Eli chuckled slightly and held the ice against his hand. It stung at first, but the wonderful cold soon started to soothe his pain. The two sat in awkward silence which Eli wasn't really used to. "I'm sorry." He practically blurted the words, not used to having to apologize. "For getting so angry I mean. Usually I just try to make out with girls, not punch them." Eli laughed feeling better already. tag: maximum lee raisonnote: ^.^![/blockquote][/blockquote]

"thanks." Elijah chuckled at some thought, but Max ignored him. Probably something about how nice she was being all of a sudden. She watched as he pressed the ice to his wound. There was an awkward silence in which Max fiddled with the zipper of her coat.
"i'm sorry," eli blurted out. "For getting so angry I mean. Usually I just try to make out with girls, not punch them." Max smiled at that. She'd heard from around camp that Elijah was quite the player. Not that she listened to all the gossip about boys.
"don't worry about it," she told him nonchalantly. "I get used to people blowing up at me. This is pretty much the only time it hasn't ended in someone getting drenched, though."

A soft smile appeared on Eli's face. "Well thanks for that. I wouldn't want to get my hair wet. I have an image to uphold after all."
Eli winked at Max, leaving the smile on his face. Though some people might call him shallow he didn't care. His face and his hair were the two things he made sure were in top shape. That was partially why he was so pissed with Michael burned his cheek. The scar still slightly visible.
"I hope you're not just being nice to me because you feel bad for me. I want my awarding winning personality to win you over." Eli chuckled. Though he sounded like he was joking he was really serious. He hated when people felt bad for him. Sure he'll throw a pout here and there to get what he wants, but it was all a show. His past however was not and he didn't want Max to feel bad for him now for what happened then. tag: maximum lee raisonnote: ^.^![/blockquote][/blockquote]

"well thanks for that. I wouldn't want to get my hair wet. I have an image to uphold after all." Elijah winked and Max let out a laugh. He wasn't as shallow as she had previously thought.
"i hope you're not just being nice to me because you feel bad for me. I want my awarding winning personality to win you over." She laughed again. His winning personality. That was funny.
"i did feel bad for you," she began. "But it feels sorta good to be nice every once in a while. So this is the nice me. Don't get used to it, though," she warned mischievously. She looked down at her shoes. "After all, the sea often changes."

Eli smiled sadly though the last thing he wanted was for Max to feel bad for him, but he was kind of happy that she was being nice to him. Max was known for being the tough trouble making girl around the camp. Eli always heard things about her and always saw her around but never bothered to say anything which was definitely unlike him. Well, at least he was doing something now.
"Ha, well thanks. For a second there I was afraid I was going to have to kick your ass."
Elijah chuckled knowing how ridiculous it sounded. He grew silent. "That's okay though. The ocean is a beautiful thing." He looked up at Max and winked playfully though he was serious. tag: maximum lee raisonnote: ^.^![/blockquote][/blockquote]

Eli smiled sadly, as though he regretted the fact Max pitied him. But only for a moment, she pitied him. She knew his past was harsh and she tried to imagine having something like that behind her. She'd hate for people to feel sorry for her. She'd had that feeling before. When she came to Camp Half-Blood four years ago...everyone felt so sorry for her. She hated that. She put out a cocky attitude just so people would notice her not being miserable over the fact she wasn't supposed to be born.
"Ha, well thanks. For a second there I was afraid I was going to have to kick your ass." He chuckled. "That's okay though. The ocean is a beautiful thing."
Max closed her eyes. The ocean was beautiful, but there was a hint behind it that Eli was referring to herself. "Sometimes the ocean can even have a calming effect on people," she muttered, not really caring if Elijah was listening or not. "Wish that was me."

Elijah really did enjoy the ocean. Max was right, it did have a calming affect on people and he enjoyed it. "You're calming me right now."
Eli spoke barely above a whisper and smiled. She was very much like the ocean. Beautiful, strong, majestic, forever changing. Eli tried to think back at the last time he was at the beach and he quickly wanted to push those thoughts away from his mind. It was with Ace and that wasn't something he wanted to think about now.
Almost on impulse, Eli turned to Max. He grabbed her gently by the chin to turn her face to face him. Then, Eli placed a kiss on the girl's lips. He wasn't sure why he did it. Maybe it was because she did remind him of the ocean, or maybe because he wanted to replace Ace's kiss form his mind by kissing the child of Poseidon, or maybe it was because he was so mentally and physically tired that this was the only way he knew how to give himself a break. Either way, he did it and he liked it.

"You're calming me right now," he said softly. Max bobbed her head slightly in a nod. Guess it was a once in a while sort of thing. She remembered going down to the beach when she'd first come to camp. She remembered the disbelief she'd been claimed by Poseidon and the sadness. But when she'd spent the night by the shore, her emotions were wiped away. That night, she felt like she was a given a new slate, a clean slate.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Eli turned around and face her. Gentle fingers turned her chin around and suddenly Max was facing him too and they were no more than an inch apart. Then he leaned forward and placed a kiss on her lips. For a moment, she was too surprised to react, then she found herself kissing him back the next few moments.
When she pulled away, it had been no more than ten seconds since Elijah had kissed her. She didn't know what to think. Her mind was completely blank and emotionless. A second later, she regained her thoughts. "Er...wasn't expecting that."

For once, Eli let out a sincere laugh. It wasn't one of his fake I'm-just-trying-to-flirt-with-you laughs, but rather a laugh from deep within his gut. He didn't know why he was laughing so hard. What Max had said really all that funny. Maybe he was laughing because he was actually afraid that she was going to punch him but didn't. Eli's laugh faded and he composed himself.
"Is that you all you have to say about the kiss? No 'Best Kiss Of My Life' award or anything?"
Elijah was obviously teasing now. He just wanted to lighten the mood and make this as comfortable as possible. Heck last time he kissed a girl in the woods he got burned. There was a little part in Eli's brain that worried about Max having a boyfriend and him getting beat up again. The better part of his brain ensured him that she didn't. Not that she couldn't get a boyfriend, but didn't seem like the type to stick with one guy.

When Max finally got back to her old self, she found Eli was laughing. Not just laughing - laughing like she'd said the most hilarious thing in the world. She laughed a bit herself. It was a bit funny, her reaction. But the reason was... Elijah regained himself, his laugh fading away.
"Is that you all you have to say about the kiss? No 'Best Kiss Of My Life' award or anything?" he teased.
Max snorted. "How could I be a judge of that? I've never kissed anyone in my life. No one would dare ask me out," she smirked. "Dunno why, probably scared I'd punch them." She grinned at Eli. "It was unexpected, but not bad, I suppose."

Eli was glad that Max had laughed a lot a bit. He didn't want her thinking that he was some psycho nutcase or anything. Suddenly Eli titled his head in confusion. "Wait? You've never kissed anyone...ever?"
He hoped that he didn't sound rude, but he was truly surprised.
It made sense what Max had said. She was the daughter of Poseidon and you just don't has the daughter of one of the big three out casually, but still. Eli..as her first kiss? He couldn't help but feel guilty. Yeah he could be a man whore, but he always felt as if a person's first kiss should be special. He was robbed of that himself and didn't want to steal that from Max. "I'm sorry..." That was the second apology that came from his mouth and it was all in the same day. tag: maximum lee raisonnote: ^.^![/blockquote][/blockquote]

Eli tilted his head. "Wait? You've never kissed anyone...ever?" he asked, sounding surprised. Max was surprised he found that surprising. She looked at him with an amused look on her face.
"Do I look like the kind of person that goes around making out with everyone?" she laughed. Her eyes twinkled playfully. "Nah, that's you, Eli." When he started apologizing, Max started laughing aloud. "What? You're apologizing now? What's the point of that? Did you want someone else to be my first kiss?"
She folded her arms. "It doesn't have to be special, does it? I reckon first kisses are overrated."
