"It feels like its been longer" Justin told her, "But yes its only been half a day" He hoped this didnt change anything. He didnt want the shortness of their relationship to change how she felt about him. He hadnt had very many relationships in his past and he had never felt this way about a girl before. ----------- The Obese jogger comment made me laugh XD

the sharp knife of a short life _________________________________________________ matt stopped waling for a moment, hoping he'd stop as well. why had she asked that? there had been no importance in asking such a thing. she closed her eyes against her own negative response to the question she herself had asked. as much as there was no point in asking it, there was just as little a point in mocking it. "i'm sorry i asked it, that was silly of me," she said quietly, smiling with tingues of guilt "what doesn't matter is how long we've been together. what matters is how long we will be together. which is forever"

"Its fine. " Justin said with a soft smile. He stopped walking and hugged her. He closed his eyes for a moment and let himself relax. "My love for you is never-ending matt." he whispered softly. He held her for a few more moments and then reluctantly took a step back.

the sharp knife of a short life _________________________________________________ matt stood still for a moment, wrapping herself around him. her mind began to let his owrds sink in. she shuddered not only with a sense of inner warmth, which came suddenly, but the slow, gradual onslaught of a chilling wind. "let's go find a tree," she said softly, letting go of justin yet still letting her fingertips hang loosely in his palm "together"

Justin squeezed her hand and kept his fingers intwined with hers. "How bout that one?" he pointed to a small one with his free hand. It was a kind of Charlie Brown tree but it seemed like a nice little tree. Justin wasnt really that great at choosing stuff like this.

the sharp knife of a short life _________________________________________________ still standing close to justin, she watched his eyes travel to a small pine tree. it was lucky of them to find it. she had begun to think all of the trees were far too tall. the light snow ceased, leaving them with a solemn silence. his finger pointed out to the tree, and she was already nodding her head in a bobbly fashion. "yes," she breathed out, perhaps too quiet to hear.

Justin barely heard her yes and he smiled. He walked over to it to inspect it closer. He wanted it to be perfect. He smiled at matt. "Its a.....nice little tree" Justin wanted to say cute but he knew it would sound weird, "Uh, do you think it would have helped if I would have brought something to cut it down with?" Justin scratched the back of his neck in embarrasment.

the sharp knife of a short life _________________________________________________ "i like it," said matt quietly, filtering the little tree's needles through her fingers, smiling. but his comment caught her off-guard. thinking of ideas, taking his comment seriously, didn't work out for her. she smiled, resortin to trying to tell him it was okay, but the words couldn't pass her lips. she was too busy smiling, and from keeping a gurgly giggle from her lips. but in a few moments she was sitting on the ground, laughter erupting from her mouth..

Justin grinned when she started to laugh. "Its not funny!" he protested but he started to laugh anyways. She seemed to think he was just hilarious. He sat down so he was facing her. "You do know im being serious.." He said after a few moments had passed.

the sharp knife of a short life _________________________________________________ matt grinned, never believing for a second that justin could've been serious, but when he stated that she was, she brought herself up into kneeling position, letting her face fall for only a moment. "tha't okay," she said, smiling "it's stilly funny. well, ironic, really." she looked around her, taking a mental image of the place. "i think it's a bit too dark to go and grab something now. how about we just put the presents here and we can both end up meeting at this tree on christmas morning?"

"That sounds good to me" Justin said, smiling down at her. He held out his hand and pulled her to her feet and into his embrace. "I love you" he said. He knew that he told her all the time, but it felt good to tell her. He waited a few seconds before he kissed her.

Matt was easily comforted by Justin's soft voice, and the sound of his 'I love yous' always made her blush with recognition. But more than that as well. Her sense of trust and self-approval was backed by the fact that she knew he wasn't lying, and perhaps also the fact that she loved him back. A lot. She let his soft words hang in before he kissed her. Her lips traced the border of his, and she smiled while she came up for air. She knew she wouldn't have to say I love you back. The long , heavy kiss probably said it all. But, as they seperated for a moent, she mouthed it and breathed the soft words on her exhalation, before clsoing her eyes and kissing him again.

Justin loved kissing her. He felt so peaceful when he did. When they finally pulled away he was beathing heavy. "Well, that was very very pleasent" Justin said, his face flushing with embarassment.
He took a step back so he was leaning against a tree. "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are?" he asked her.

Matt smiled slightly at his question, though it was more or less lacking any need for an answer. She blushed and leaned steadily against a tall, bare maple, facing him. She creased her lips "Is that supposed to be rhetorical?" she asked jokingly, tossing a lock of blonde behind her shoulder.

Justin smiled. "Of course its rhetorical. I already know the answer" Justin said softly.
He was about to lean in for another kiss when suddenly something stopped him. He looked around curiously, he thought he had heard something. He frowned and turned back to Matt. "We should get back to the cabins" He said. Even if he was imagining the noise he didnt want Matt getting hurt.
